Comments by "Green Hornet" (@greenhornet8262) on "Halle Bailey's casting as Ariel prompts conversation about race l Nightline" video.
Ariel is a mythical creature. The princess and the frog is about a real culture.

In the original story she was green. So technically you should have boycotted the 1989 film
2
David Hansen you’re much more clueless than me crying over a mythical creature who can be played by anybody who wants to. Ariel is going to be black. Get over your racial bias and deal with it. Disney is unbothered from your temper tantrum.
2
Rusty Shields a man could not play Ariel because it will change the story. A dog can’t because it will change the story. The race of the girl does not have any effect on the story what so ever.
2
Rusty Shields you can’t swap the character with anything. That’s the thing with people like you. Not only do you call other people bigots for calling out your bigotry, you try to comparing with another situation. Stop with the “might as well make her transgender, or gay, etc” argument. Because if it were any of that, it would still change the story. You say I’m fighting hard, yet you are still trying to justify the race of a fish.
2
Rusty Shields you really need to look up the definition of white washing and black washing. This is not black washing. Because for the thousandth time, it’s not real nor based on a real person or culture. Your argument is the equivalent of trying to justify the race of the Easter bunny. Just read your comment back aloud. “Black agenda”? So I guess there was never a white agenda for the a million REAL people movies have changed right? it’s only this that a problem for you
2
Rusty Shields again, the little mermaid is not a white character. She’s a mythical creature who is not based on any person or culture. That’s the thing that you will refuse to admit. You just hate that anybody can play the character. Keep deflecting like you’re doing. Bigotry at its finest
2
David Hansen Ariel should any race that the people who are making the movie want it to be you idiot. Unless you can tell me any type of real person or real culture that she is apart of you can shut the hell up. If you want Ariel to be white so bad go make your own movie about her. And all of those other examples have no effect on the outcome of the story either. People have changed the race of black characters (who are actually real) for centuries and still do til this day. Why is it that you only call Disney out for changes but not any one else? It’s because you only care if it’s white characters that are changed. At least Disney is not changing things that are part of real culture like so many other Hollywood films have.
2
She’s gonna have red hair.
2
Ayla Cristina also, just because she’s black doesn’t mean she is fit to play princess and the frog. Tianna is a lot darker than Halle
2
Emilee McKee Ariel is a mythical creature. She has no race. So any girl can play her. In the princess in the frog, it is actually based on a real person, so it would be wrong to change the race of that character. Because her race is integral to it.
2
Rusty Shields look up Leah Chase. Really man. Learn to do your research.
2
So what was it all the times in the past centuries that roles for other races have been played by white people? That was Liberal too?
2
People are still on this? She’s a mythical creature people. Shes not real. Any girl can play her. Stop comparing this to princess and the frog and Mulan. It’s not the same thing. Those stories are based on real people and culture with race integral to the character. Stop saying “my childhood is ruined”. The 1989 movie isn’t going anywhere. if you feel so badly about it, the 1989 film always be there to watch.
2
No actually it’s because she learned to season food
1
That One I’m a fan of quality clap backs. And you have five star quality
1
I think she’s playing the character in full not just voicing
1
Rusty Shields it’s in the original story

1
Rusty Shields you’re right it does. My mistake. Doesn’t change the fact that any race could still play her.
1
Rusty Shields shut up. I judge whatever I want to because you idiots are doing the same thing. The fact that you are using “colored” A word I never said, tells more about your hypocrisy than it does me. You would never be on any other video crying and throwing fits if it the character had been whitewashed like so many have through history. Keep the same energy with this like you have with that.
1
Rusty Shields like your talking points have made people change their minds. Lol sure.
1
Rusty Shields yes you have said you are against all rac swapping but I guarantee you would never said as much as you have with this if it were any other situation. It’s you who needs to have a seat.
1
Rusty Shields assumptions? Like you’re assuming that I must want to black wash characters because I am still having to explain to you that any race of the character can play her because she’s not real?Sure thing buddy. Im the hypocrite lol
1
Rusty Shields and you have made evident that you are actually the bigot by calling the person you’re arguing with a bigot because you know you don’t have an answer to give for your argument when presented against facts. It’s the same approach that all bigots do every time. I hope this is a wake up call for you to start doing better.
1
Rusty Shields “stealing my own shit” and then goes on to say exactly what I just said before. Just stop.
1
Rusty Shields good. Continue to deflect from facts and deflect how your argument is void. It means you’re winning.
1
Rusty Shields you’re deflecting from the fact that you have no argument because she’s a mythical creature with no attachment to a culture or real person so the character could be played by any girl no matter what race. You have used every excuse from “might as well make her transgender” to “you only care about blackwashing” to the most recently “you are doing the I know you are but what am I” all does not change the fact that Ariel can be any race.
1
Rusty Shields I know you haven’t. It should already be established. Whether or not you think it’s stupid, it’s gonna happen. Either embrace the change, or boycott the movie like so many other have said they will
1
Rusty Shields if you really expect the industry to live up to YOUR vision or anybody else’s of what things are supposed to be, then you have so much to learn. I know that your fragility for the image of your race leads you to assume yet again, but nobody is looking for a handout. Majority of people could care less of what race she was because they are smart enough to know this particular characters race doesn’t matter. It’s not a win. It’s nothing special. She may be the black version to you, but logical thinkers would know that it is just another version. So because I tell you why any race is acceptable to play her, that means I hate white people? Lol What’s really sad is that you can’t see how hilarious you are. I mean you are crying about a fish like it was your mother. Calm down. White people have dozens of other princesses. And I promise the mean bad black people won’t take them away from you and your fragility.
1
Ariel is mythical creature. She has no race
1
That One than you!, educate these young ones
1
The Lonely Werd so the dozens of example where white people have played other races through the centuries didn’t need to be called out like this has to right?
1
Rusty Shields thanks for putting words in my mouth. I never said any of that. My point was there was never any backlash when roles of other races were played by white people, but now when it’s the other way around, (even though it’s really not because she’s a mythical creature with no assigned race) people want to go crazy
1
No Dana. I have seen the conversation you have had with another person. He gave valid points as to why you would be called racist and with every reply you didn’t said you didn’t care. You never tried to understand where he was coming from. All the mattered was that you had to be right and anyone who though different was wrong
1
Lion king is Disney top selling live action movie. So I don’t think many people think it was ruined
1
“zendiyah”?
