  1. I feel safer unarmed in the back streets of Thailand than I do out front of a police station in my own country. In this case I would have gone somewhere else to eat so there was no chance of an interaction with them. I would be furious if they paid my bill. If I don't want to eat next to you, I certainly don't want your money. The exact amount with the receipt would be given to the restaurant manager to be returned to the officers next time they dined.
