  1. Unfortunately the government legislated race circuits to the point insurance makes it financially not possible for most. How much do you think it costs to go to a closed circuit for a single day? Do you think many people under 20 have the finances to go to a circuit? This ‘idiot’ was probably a perfectly kind and reasonable young man who had no understanding of the consequences for his actions. It cost him everything, and it is very sad. Even more sad that people like you are so self righteous that you will insult a person with brain damage from a mistake they made, like you never did a single thing in your life that wasn’t perfectly calculated.

  3. Correct. I competed on closed circuits at speed, on the edge, had crashes, etc.. but my worst was on a casual ride with my 65 year old dad, at 60kmh.. going over the roof of some idiot who didn’t bother to glance left before pulling out of their driveway.

  5. @Randall Slaughter Not only illegal but unsafe for both parties. The thing is, the government figured out if you make things illegal, you can then generate income from them. This guy crashing is what they use to justify $400 fines for doing 52 in a 50.. because ‘speed kills’. The government doesn’t care about this accident, or the lives it affects, they care about loose moral leverage to justify stripping the public of money through ridiculously priced road traffic fines for ‘speeding’.

  8.  @radioactivetrees9626  It’s not juvenile, it’s reality. All riders understand this. Every time you pull on the gloves, could be your last, no matter how careful you are. A rider has no control over someone blowing a red light and killing them. It’s juvenile to believe you are in control.

  9. I blame lack of guidance. Lack of facilities to do this sort of thing. The government legislated insurance at closed circuits to the point it is only available to those with a disposable income... those aren’t the people who do it on the street.

  13.  @fredbloggs545  I don’t get out of a track day for less than a grand, this is the reality of it. Are you running a GS125 bucket? Do you not use tires? Is your bike solar? Do you use home brand lubricants and change them bi-annually? Entry generally costs around the $400 mark, and this is for around 4 hours of available track time.. so even if you don’t ever change tires, use fuel, change brake pads, change lubricants or filters, get any tuning done, break anything on the bike, trailer to and from....... it’s STILL $100 per hour to walk in. Before the insurance regulation blow outs, we could hire tracks out privately.. this used to cost around $30-$50 a head for a full day, if you organise a group.

Do you believe $100 per hour for track time, due to the requirements insurance companies put on owners to even be able to open the gates, is comparable to $30-50 per day before the ridiculous over legislation? Do you truly believe putting track time out of the reach of young motorsports enthusiasts through legislation surrounding insurance makes the roads safer?

I understand you were born absolutely perfect, not even as an adolescent did you make a decision that a highly ranking field Marshall would call anything less than exemplary.. but it’s not like that for everyone, spud. My point is, for someone earning average cash, track days used to be well within reach, allowing them to get their stupidity out in an environment away from traffic.. Your point is that you can afford it, therefore it’s not expensive for anyone else..... this is called having your head up your own ass.
