Compulsory voting means 18 year olds can be bent to the whims of tik tok influencers, which is what we saw last election. 25 should be minimum age. 18 year olds don’t understand politics, consequences, etc, they’re still learning how to adult, and have a million other things that matter to them. Forcing them to vote is counterproductive.
That was a while ago, mate. Bold of you to assume nobody changed their opinion in the clown show we’ve endured since.
I’ve voted labor, I’ve voted liberal, I’ve voted independent, I’ve even voted greens, but one thing I can guarantee you, after my own PM went on a campaign of hatred against me, I will never vote labor again as long as I draw breath.

I’m going to be reasonable, even though I don’t expect the same in return.
I used to be ok with changing the date, then I realised, that it won’t matter. There’s nothing we can do that will appease these people, and any leeway given will be used as leverage for the next wave of targeted hatred.
It’s not about the date, it’s about hatred. If the date changes, they will find a new reason to hate, because that is the true core of the issue.
Hate for a specific demographic of people, which also happen to be the demographic responsible for this island paradise’s existence. Free healthcare, free education, free money, yet the people who built this are the problem?
My next door neighbours are aboriginals, drug dealers who the cops won’t go near, and the dad spends 2-3 hour chunks of his day in the back yard screaming r4ci4L hatred at the top of his lungs, despite the fact his family collects over 300k a year from the government for being Aboriginal, and having a stack of kids they don’t look after. I have 2 Aboriginal nieces and he still calls me a white dog on sight.
So we’ve now reached the point, where we can’t discuss this together as countrymen, because despite my family’s long service record of protecting this beautiful land, our home, the people pushing this narrative don’t recognise our sacrifice. They don’t recognise the FACT that without Australians defending Australia, this would be a Japanese colony for the last 80 years and ALL would have been killed. My kin did that, and continues to do so, while people throw rocks at the backs of our heads and call us invaders.
Be honest, if the date changed, would this campaign of hate end, or would it just be next issue on the agenda.. I think we both know the answer.
So this leaves us at an impasse. Nothing I do will appease you, nothing I do will stop the hate, and as a result, I’m no longer willing to try, in fact, this movement has turned myself and many like me from people who were happy to change it if it made every happy, to someone who opposes it, because it’s not about the date, it’s about hate.
