  33.  @drawmelikeafrenchgirl  If using quotes for reference when making a point, someone has to have actually said it to make it a relevant point of reference. “poor humble people do” Why have you put this in quotations, neither of us said it. It only serves to move the goalposts from both of our initial comments, even then it is incorrect. Doctors, lawyers, politicians, scientists.... no call for Latin. It has nothing to do with "poor and humble", and everything to do with real world application. Latin is a dead language, French is the 5th most spoken language in the world. “if only I had learned French instead of Latin…my job opportunities would be so much greater…” You've used this in an arrogantly sarcastic, dismissive manner, but it is actually truth. Or do you believe studying a dead language to open more doors than a widely spoken one? Let's remove the wretched "poor and humble" from the conversation. A doctor who can speak French, does this person have more or less opportunity than a doctor who can speak Latin? Marketing......... Do I need to explain the opportunities that come with speaking the language of another marketplace than your own? You were saying something about wilful stupidity!? French has real world application, Latin does not, thus, deciding to PAY to study it at an ivy league university is a choice only the rich can make. AGAIN you move the goalposts though, changing it to "you can study it on your phone", but that is not the premise of the discussion. Disingenuous debate, like all of your other pseudo intellectual ramblings on this thread. I wanted to study music, I studied management because there is no fallback for me, and I was paying for it myself to begin with. This is the basic premise of the topic.
