@Fooguno Many characters can operate in a PG 13 setting, a dark brooding vampire hybrid anti-hero isn’t one of them.

@InDeathWeLove Yep, then add in a talentless group of clowns whose only job is to seek out any shred of possible offence in the project, and force writers to remove it. I write music as a hobby, if someone told me to change every third note, it would be impossible to write. Creativity is not easy and it doesn’t happen on command.

@RamanaS25 You don’t know any big beefy vegetarians, sorry bud, the nutrients to sustain bulk, let alone build it in the first place just aren’t available to you, the discipline and cost would make it a full time job to attempt, and you would be leaning on strong mesomorph genetics to make any headway anyway. You may know healthy ones, sure.. possibly dudes with great genetics to begin with who look great lean due to being starved of essential nutrients for their training.. but building muscle isn’t happening for a vegan without taking so many supplements you would sound like a pill bottle when you moved.

All creative decisions are based on profit…

@InDeathWeLove I feel the writers have too many people looking over their shoulder in the creative process. People with no other purpose than to spot anything that may be offensive at a glance. It would be very hard to build any creative momentum as an artist.

@Fooguno Nothing is wrong with an anti-hero, but a dark brooding vampire hybrid is going to struggle in a PG13 setting.

@Fooguno The issue is that specific character/setting/etc needs the freedom of being dark in an adult way, but the studio wants money from children AND adults, not just adults, so they want a PG13 rating. The artistic needs of the specific project vs the studios greed. The result is a gimped version of the character and world that adults don’t like because it’s been made ‘safe’ for kids, and kids mostly don’t really like, because the setting and character are appealing to a crowd that aren’t restricted to PG13 ratings.

@Fooguno Sure, teens.. though 13-15 still seems like a child to me, the point remains, the studio wants their money, so sacrifice artistic integrity to be able to sell it to a wider demographic, but in doing so, make a movie that isn’t really for either demographic. Glad you enjoyed the movie.

@Fooguno You’ve kinda made my point with Deadpool.. I’m sure it would have been a fine movie as PG13, but with a mature rating it’s a legit classic. I’m sure Morbius is ‘fine’, but it needed a more mature rating for the kind of character and setting they were working with to allow them the freedom of doing dark things with the character/story. Some things play out fine as PG13, Captain America is a perfect example of a character everyone can enjoy that doesn’t need a mature rating, same with Spider-Man, etc, etc. even Wolverine was just scraping inside PG13 rating umbrella. It’s just greed, mate. Bigger market = more money. So we need it to be for sale to the kiddies (young teens). But this only works if people are ok with movies just being ‘ok’, and consume blindly regardless of quality.

@Fooguno I don’t disagree with a lot of your points. I do feel this particular character needed more ‘mature’ room to breathe. I’ve never been big on blood and gore for the sake of it, but a movie like Blade with a PG13 rating would have been very restricted. I feel that applies here.

Watch ‘the drinker fixes’ series, if you haven’t.
