  1. @Kimmm West No, they’re not whatever the show says they are.. they’re what TOLKIEN says they are… and he says what they are in GREAT detail. This is not Star Wars, or some other IP, this is one of the greatest works of art ever ‘painted’, by one of the greatest artists to ever live, and he did it with meticulous detail and care. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with an Englishman writing mythology for Europeans. There’s nothing wrong with telling it as he wrote it. There’s nothing wrong with respecting European art and culture. If you can’t respect it and recreate it in good faith, there’s also nothing wrong with leaving it alone.

  2. @Carter Seems like you think if things don’t matter to you, they don’t matter. You’ve also dismissed a sweeping statement of opinion, with a far broader sweeping statement….. of opinion. There are a lot of different people with a lot of different interests, bud. Their interests are just as important to them as yours are to you, even if you believe yourself to be better than them.

  4. You watch it? Damn, I just assumed nobody was aside from the people making these videos. The thing is, I don’t even have desire to hate watch it, the industry has genuinely turned into a clown show in my eyes. When you find someone intolerable, you don’t want to see them on your screen.

  12. My favourite show is The Expanse, the casting makes sense in the setting. The casting in this show has nothing to do with the setting. It’s political, and it’s insulting.

  13. Race swap all these new shows if you must, probably be better to just create new characters…. Ya know… However, maybe we can respect true art/mythology and not use it as a political toilet. That would be appreciated. Tolkien is different, pretending it isn’t, is being intentionally disrespectful to one of the most famous artists in the history of our species, and anyone who loves his work.

  14. Stop hiring writers who define THEMSELVES based on gender/identity politics.. of course it is all they will care about, and therefore it’s all they will write about. Sorry bud, a lot of people hate it due to forced diversity. Myself being one of them. In this case, the message needed to be put aside, and respect shown to the works of one of the most famous artists to ever live.
