  1. yeah, but he really wanted to help animals. but he's been put in a situation where this is the safest place he can be, where he can get food in his belly, and ironically be safe from violence. so he wants to be there given his circumstances. but had circumstances been different, he would have preferred to work with animals. so he wasn't lying when he said yes he wants to be a soldier, because it's the best and most realistic option for him. being a veterinarian is a pipe dream for a rural kid in poverty. he knows that. he wants it, but is being pragmatic to survive and possibly also support his family. as the one guy said, the government runs the show. they allow the cartels to exist in exchange for a cut of the profits. and the ones who secretly work to weed out corruption can't have their motives known, or they'll end up dead. that's why none of the cops even trust each other, cuse the good cops don't want to accidentally put a target on their back for outing themselves to a dirty cop, and visa versa.
