South Africa was a mixed developed economy in the past. The whites had privileges, and relative comfort, but the black townships were poor and dangerous. However, since especially the liberalization of South Africa in the 1990s and the end of Apartheid, South Africa became far from improving or staying the same. South Africa is becoming a failed state based on radical violence and theft. The ANC is still radicalized and in charge of government. They are now racially targeting whites, but this is far from the end of their problems. The criminality and nepotism of SA members of government is sucking the wealth out of SA. To distract their growing opposition over their nepotism, these politicians project racism towards whites as a kind of scapegoat. Nevertheless, SA is becoming increasingly dangerous and lawless for most people. This does not help the efficient running of public utilities, such as power generation. Coal turned into sludge because these mines were not properly drained or the coal tested and dried before attempting to combust it. See my point about nepotism and corruption inefficiencies in SA.
