Not believing in complex numbers is as naive as refusing to acknowledge the existence of zero or negative numbers. It's rather like explaining to the Flat Earther's that the Earth is an obliterate spheroid (not exactly a Sphere due to it being a planet formed 4.8 billion years ago) and there is ample evidence of that. Note that real numbers can be considered a subset of complex numbers where Z=a (b.i=0). It's somewhat this idea that got Stephen Hawking to investigate the idea of complex time (non-real time).

Furthermore capturing solutions by adding complex numbers is the same set of calculation rules as real numbers, so what's the point? Not adding in complex numbers is like doing away with 3 out of 4 quadrants in the Cartesian Plane (x,y) , because negative numbers are disallowed. Stupid and very difficult to find realistic solutions in such a confined space.
