The problem is that there may not be a simple method anymore to single-handedly quantify an entire field (for example, Einstein with cosmology and Giibbs with thermodynamics, more or less a decade or two from each other). Now, the head scratching problems are there (in both Quantum Mechanics and Cosmology) but a simple eureka momemt explanation like, E=mc^2 cannot explain phenomena.
