@murderouskitten2577 The attitude of societies to coerce unforced (or unpaid) labour and to create a class of unfree labourers or slaves goes back historically well beyond the triangular Atlantic African slave trade, which involved European ships first in the 15th century (mainly Portugal) and predated classical Rome and Greece. While that African slavery abomination was going on there, I would like to add that up to one and a quarter of a million Europeans, living mainly around the northern Mediterranean shores (but raiding all the way to Iceland), were abducted and sold into slavery by the Barbary Corsair slaving ships based out of Tripoli harbours and other places in the southern Mediterranean. The depredations of the Corsair slave ships reached coastal towns in Southern England by the early 17th century, depleting entire towns of people and caused significant problems for the government of Charles I. To it's undying credit, the Royal Navy was indeed the first major naval power to legally and operationally put an end to massive and systematic slavery trade being carried as cargo,

Steal Western technology and white-ant (i.e. eat from the inside out until a rotten husk is left) for Africa and other places as their "gift", making sure they add to the burden of current Africans and their children to come. The world has hardly f**king changed in the last two thousand years: Dystopia and profiteering (at any cost) as well as raging ignorance, now from China. It's charismatic and authoritarian but cursed dictatorship, raging ignorance on preventing and controlling disease, and unhealthy dining practices (like eating wild animals for some sick delicacy) in China which has got us all in the current pandemic mess that we (the rest of the world) are all experiencing now.
