  1. Mismanagement by the government. How often does that cause trouble? A century later than the Peasant's Revolt, Cornish miners revolted over a steep increase in Stannary taxes (tin taxes). Tin revenues formed a significant contribution to government treasury from the realm, and the king probably wanted to fund another foreign war. The miners managed to make it as far as Kent before the army quelled the rebellion. Try walking from Cornwall to Kent by foot ;-)
