For example, Incas sacrificed teenagers by exposing them on high mountain peaks, or strangling them with a cord, where their mummified bodies were later found with the bodies covered by amulets. Human sacrifice was generally rare in Mediterranean peoples, since at least the iron age, if you ignore gladiators, often slaves, thrown into the arena as a form of sacrifice.
