Could it be that sociopaths have gotten in charge of hiring in IT industries and these people have listened to major shareholders and directors and decided to mass-layoff workers in order in increase profits by cutting overall corporate wages? While initially ignoring customer dissatisfaction, or forcing existing workers to be more efficient and working longer hours to cover for a lost worker gap for services (because being tied to your work desk is more important for them). And as well this act of bastardry is glossed over as "winners" and "losers" diatribe. Where here have I heard of this happening before? Oh yeah, the automobile industry in Michigan in the early 2000s.

Most programmers now sit somewhere in New Delhi. Same with phone customer services; there or Manila. IT increasingly moves offshore because it's software driven and first world wages are too high in comparison to the third world, and the productivity difference in workers does not cover this gap in wages, so corporations still hire at New Delhi. Also, you don't need to sit in an office, you can do your work at home on a laptop, saving money in office space. Corporations do well, a few million people in the third world improve their lives and first world universities struggle to recruit students into IT courses when ypung people rumble all of this.
