AI might undermine traditional methods of research. A human going to a library to find books to research a topic for example. This is highly statistically likely to be an undergraduate student doing an assignment. While quite a few books are copied and are online on electronic form, negating the traditional access of physically going to the library, the student or researcher must still sift though source material to find the appropriate answer to a question. AI may negate these learned skills in students, if it essentially writes the homework for the student. Then the student faces the consequences of learning nothing about the topic and failing the written exam. Interesting to see how this AI assistance with studying plays out.
