  1. Immigrants make up 29% of the Australian population, so twice the proportion of the US. However, the US has a population of about 340 million, while Australia is only 27.5 million. So more immigrants in the US. Many more proportional illegal immigrants in the US though. Immigration has driven housing prices in Australia to a record high, along with tax benefits for owning investment properties for landlords. Not a satisfactory state of affairs.
