The real villian in this piece is petroleum based plastics. Plastics are literally everywhere on Earth; including on the bottom of the Marianas Trench, in Antarctica and in your gut. Many of the breakdown products of plastics are affecting the endocrine system of vertibrates, which is also a function of fertility, and it concentrates in the food chain. So, when we learn to literally drastically reduce plastic waste as well, we are moving in the right direction for our fertility survival as well.

  4. Shanghai as an independent ciry state could be as least as important as Singapore (Shanghai has at least 4 times the people as Singapore). Peter probably is right; the interior of China under the continual rule of the CCP will be a f**ked up wasteland, but Shanghai as an independent and liberal city state, outward looking towards the world, will be a strong magnet for foreigners on the make. Good for them, but also good for the economy of Shanghai without the interference of far away Beijing.
