In China most foreign investment there flows into the pockets of the CCP (or CPC). Most people are idiots about politics, particularly to the harmful ideological differences (or they turn a blind eye), and they are looking at what immediate (financial) advantage they can muster. I might remind people that economics follows politics (and vice-versa) and that the entrenched historical wars and democides of the 1930s onwards, was mainly about totalitarian governments throwing their weight around and causing maximum havoc (including up to 200+ million dead in that century, with the CPC contribiting well to the mass-murder count). This battlefield (physical and spiritual) difference is ideological. Totalitarianism versus democracy. Yes, various American governments meddled and connived with their military, and were hardly any better than totalitarian governments abroad, except at home they had to face the music of courts and public opinion and votes. Totalitarian governments, like in China, can suppress or control all of that.
