  1. Mao Zedong didn't care if he exterminated half the population of China in war. Hence, he was a psychopath dictator as cruel as Hitler and Stalin, his totalitarian contempories. Showing his ignorance of the effect of nuclear weapons, Mao mentioned in a meeting in the 1960s to the Indian prime minister at the time, Nehru, that it did not matter to the universe that (the United States presumably) blew an enormous hole in China with nuclear bombs (not how the destructive effect of nuclear blast works). This demonstrates Mao's utter contempt for human life (including Chinese lives), and indeed his nihilism which extended to the casualness of his own death, if that could produce a political outcome pleasing to Mao.
