  1. I've heard of this. Interesting to know the percentage of arable land China owns in other countries, but the CCP (in order to secure food supply, somewhat at the expense of others) has a problem. If the CCP wages war with the US then Trading with the Enemy Act (most Western countries has a version of this) will cut off Chinese investors from acquiring any foreign food supply at all, whether or not they control the foreign supply chain. Worse for them, the CCP Chinese executives of these US food chain companies may be affiliated or members of the CCP, then they could be interred for the duration of the war as enemy agents. Food supply is a munition of war, and the US government is unlikely to hesitate for long if war happens, because of the powers of the Act. The CCP thus becomes immediately blockaded with food supply being cut off without going to the burdensome trouble of sinking freight ships bound for Chinese ports.
