  1. Just to point out film image discrepancies, there was an image of a company of German (presume WW1) infantrymen clambering out of their trench to advance. Despite the presence of barbed wire, this is not actual war footage but a simulation probably away from an actual front where the film crew can stand without being pot shot at by enemy snipers (a hazard at the trenches). This is arranged simulated attack as there is no parapet sandbags on the trench front, the trench was shallow (about waist deep) where most trenches were dug to a depth of about 2-3 metres and the infantryman were not wearing ammunition pouches, knapsacks or gas mask canisters. Typically, on the actual Western Front, infantry would climb out of the trenches and over the parapets using ladders.
