Don't do geology or Earth Sciences and definitely don't do a Physics degree from personal experience. Do a medical degree (except physiotherapy, psychiatry, psychology, sports sciences or general medicine degrees). Don't do a degree in law because a lot of people do that and there is too much competition to get an internship in a law firm. Don't do a degree in economics, but you can do well with an accountancy degree.
In Australia, to acquire a degree there, is on average, 25% less degree costs than in the US and Canada and this is not factoring in favourable currency rates to Americans and the better winter climate in Australia, and yes you can drink the municipal tap water anywhere here and used cars are quite cheap (right hand drive). Don't do a degree in Sydney because of the ridiculous cost of living there, but Queensland is very favourable and Griffith U and UQ there has a high academic rating, but check Australian universities guides. Some of this data is from asking working North Americans over here the cost in doing their degrees.
