  1. I think it's all too late, short of war. China has spent hundreds of millions of US dollars (equivalent in RMB), illegally fortifying the South China Sea islands, so it's never going to back down from this decision. Unless it is defeated in a total war, forced to sign an armistice after a near defeat, or loses grip on power through a popular revolution from below (at this time this is the least likely scenario). So the ultimate (near unthinkable) question is this. In the not too distant future, the West will again have to expend a river of its people's blood and treasure, to force a political and economic issue with a powerful and hostile dictatorship, or tamely surrender to the CCP's revanchist will in this matter. This will open up decades of hostility, war and politically enforced poverty with the China's SE Asian neighbours and an economic and politically diminishment of anything the UN does or stands for.

Israel is a modern colonial setter state based, on a sectarian division (kind of what version of your imaginary friend, read "god" is, and anyway it has similar Abrahamic roots in my opinion, just read the genocidal Old Testament). Has anyone spelled the word "god" backwards? Modern Israel is kind of like what Northern Ireland was, on steroids.
