Twenty-first century wars? You've forgotten the upcoming World War 3 when China militarily invades Taiwan. This is a war that the US has to become involved in for straightforward economic and technological bottleneck reasons. One pre-eminent chipmaking company in Taiwan in fact; TSMC. Wars in the twentieth century have been fought over petroleum resources (the United States being pre-eminent in many of them). The twenty first century wars will be fought over supplying silicon chips (silicon wafer integrated circuits were invented in the 1960s in the United States). Silicon chips will be the oil of the twenty first century, on steroids. EVs rely heavily on chips, and so do the military. Chips made in Taiwan now supply up to 60% of the main processors in your mobile phone and computer, in the United States and worldwide. If you want to make missiles for warfare, as well as drones, components all throughout warplanes and warships, and even in military vehicles like tanks, trucks and night vision gunsights for your soldiers, you will need silicon chips that Taiwan and South Korea currently makes. This makes the security of these countries vital to the interests of the United States, and indeed much of the world in general as well (outside mainland China).

I agree. The downfall of the United States will come from within, not from any external enemies outside the United States. For example, erosion of your political and legal system. In January last year, Donald Trump in his desperation in holding on to power, did just that, he was near treasonable to the constitution of the United States in his devisiveness. If the United States falls to a dictatorship then it's not only the end of the current economic and military power of the United States at home and abroad, it will throw the world outside the United States into an intensive frenzy of chaos as countries in Eurasia, Africa and South America start warring intensively over resources, territory and shipping lanes (yes, I know there are people that claim that the US is a main instigator of the chaos, but it don't agree much with that assessment over a long time span since 1945).
