  1. The Holy Roman Empire DOES exist, and it was created or "resurrected" as the European Common Market, appropriately enough at the treaty of Rome in 1957 (so we get the Roman in there). Now it is called the EU, again a confederation of states, with a common currency and it's capital is Brussels (which may have fallen into the borders of the Holy Roman Empire, historically). Europe now no longer lives in the world of feudalism (the actual kingdoms, like the UK and Denmark, are constitutional monarchies) so only the "Holy" bit has to go.
