  1. Spain's demigraphics, particularly in the city/countryside divide, strangly echoes Australia's in some ways. There are some similarities between these countries. Spain is a large mainly semi-arid country with poor fertility soils. Australia is similar, but much bigger with substantial dry hot deserts. Spain & Australia's large cities are burgeoning with immigrants from overseas. Much of Spain and Australia is warm temperate semi-arid climate with mediterranean type agriculture, with some irrigation, often practised. Farms are large and mechanized, but small towns in these wheat-belt regions do not typically support high populations anymore, as manual farmhand labour is little needed in comparison to the past. Very few immigrate from overseas go to these small rural communities because of lack of services, and these towns get lack of services from governments and commerce because of lack of population which work into a negative feedback loop.
