There will new outward pressure from China's coastal cities, particularly from the South and Centre will be looking outwards. This could mean resurgence of movement of the liberal city state in China. Shanghai, with it's long association with foreign powers, foreign investment and outward looking trade, may be among the the first entity to declare schism from the Beijing government as a city state, and the currently precarious nature of China's economy may encourage it. The future for the rest of China does not look rosy (this is an understatement); more oppression, more "common prosperity" (greater enforced poverty if you are not a high official or well-connected) and even more corruption. There is a saying, not just about gravity; the bigger they are the harder they fall.
