China does not manufacture ICE vehicles well because of 2 main reasons; 1. Cutting corners leading to quality and safety issues and 2. A lack of time of mass-producing ICE automobiles in comparison with North America, Europe, Japan and South Korea. These countries have been manufacturing automobiles long-term, and have developed a highly skilled workforce in designing and manufacturing. So EVs are preferred in China, plus the government subsidies them for two reasons; 1. Reducing importation of petroleum fuels into China and 2. For a vanity project showcasing Chinese EVs as "superior" in a still developing and immature market. Unfortunately, both the CCP and Telsla are backing the wrong horse. EV material manufacturing is generally more expensive than ICE vehicles and especially require a heavy Lithium ion battery to work. This battery lasts at most half the lifetime of an ICE automobile engine, meaning battery replacement costs are extreme. Perhaps, as much or more than the value of the entire vehicle to replace the battery. One final reason are vehicle fires. ICE vehicle rarely burn and it appears than EVs burn catastrophically at least 100 times more often in comparison. And the risk increases exponentially with the milage of the vehicle. That is real insurance liability.
