I presonally think that "peaceful development" model is permanently over for the CCP, i.e. they've played that card and it's not coming back any time soon. Deng Xiaoping (himself a warmonger) said to "bide your time and hide your strength (or weaknesses)"; This is pretty well game over for that sentiment for the CCP too. They've played their "wolf warrior" card (probably too early because of the Covid pandemic that they've created), and now they are fully committed to antagonism with the United States and allies. To these foes, it's a wake-up call and call to arms as we've increasingly seen. The CCP no longer bothers with a friendly mask anymore, as it presents a barbaric criminal creed that's what it is and always has been. Isolation, poverty and defeat now beckon to destroy this dystopian totalitarian system. If it goes to world war, their demise will quicken.
