  1. China's conservative culture makes it worse. A bride price is very medieval, but women understandably in China are taking advantage of it. Additionally, bride price or doweries for women is a sign of a materially impoverished culture. Partially because the poor quality and corruption of local government for a very long time, Anyway, the demographics, like everything else in China is skewed and dystopian. The population demogaphics are collapsing, which will cause serious economic problems for decades. I feel sorry for millions of men in China who are forced to live a bleak, lonely existence as a result.
