  2. Relying on a single crop is high risk farming. Diversifying your types of farming practises is less profitable and more work, but also more economically manageable during times of recession, i.e, if you grow 3 types of crop, maybe at least one will be profitable; not a complete loss. The agricultural sector in China is not in a healthy state. China now imports 24% of it's foods from other countries. Staple crops are well as boutique crops are being imported. The CCP exaggerates at best about it's concern about agriculture. It has badly managed the agricultural sector for the past 30 years. I am comparing China in this regard, to another Communist country, Vietnam. Vietnam has better managed it's agricultural sector, to the point where Vietnam, a much smaller country than China, exports rice.
