  1. I already knew that the CCP's aircraft carriers were junk and sitting ducks for any powerful international navy. For example, any one of the 40 year old USN Nimitz class carriers can destroy the entire PLAN carrier fleet in a few hours (if the PLAN destroyers can't offer meaningful screening protection). Even the Japanese SDF navy helicopter carriers with VTOL F-35s can sink any one of the PLAN carriers. The USN probably has better intelligence on the Shandong class carriers than in the public domain. It's becoming increasingly clear that the PLAN is more than a decade off from seriously challenging the USN in a fleet engagement.
