  1. The Chinese will try more ships and less missiles per ship. There are systematic problems using this strategy; maintainence, logistics and firepower per ship. More ships also need more crews. The intention is swamp the areas with ships, but this tactic is outdated. The very long range over-the-horizon technology of radar and missiles of modern naval ships makes fleet actions of small to medium ships less necessary. Putting out a lot of ships in a small sea area, say the Taiwan Strait, instead makes a target-rich environment for your opponents.

  2. Fake ship. It's a copy of a Zumwalt destroyer. It's a Potemkin ship; just hull and engines. No sensors, missiles or guns are aboard. The CCP copies everything; including bad or dubious technology. The USN has had some technical difficulties with the Zumwalt destroyer and has only built three of these ship type when 32 were originally ordered.
