The CCP only harmed a number of specialised export industries in Australia, such as fisheries (Rock Lobster) for a short time. For example, Barley and coal rapidly readjusted it's export markets elsewhere. Overall the Federal government estimated an overall loss in export trade of $A 1 billion in 2020-21, which is less than 1% of Australia's overall export trade. Hence, the CCP trade embargo had only minimal effect on Australia's national politics and only relatively few exporters lost out, temporarily. But, it was a salient lesson on Australian governments and businesses that the CCP will not like; China is an unreliable trade partner was the message export business got, and the CCP uses politics to directly mediate trade relations in a fiat way without consultation. Despite it's large economic footprint, China is a difficult customer to deal with; much more difficult than the Japanese or South Koreans ever were.

Rubio is correct about the horrendous level of genocide by the CCP..

Trump's election may speed up conflict between China and the US. This is more in detriment to the CCP: The relatively recent purging of senior PLA generals (e.g. in the Rocket Force) and a PLAAN admiral by Xi Jinping needs more time to rectify than pressure by Trump allows it.
