1. Vietnam has fought off China for centuries. To my surprise I saw invasion after invasion attempt as nauseam (by China into Vietnam) on a website about it. This is part of the ever expanding land strategy practised by China over the last 2000 years; blot out and gobble up smaller independant states on the periphery of the empire; rather like the Romans. Hence, the Vietnamese are historically mentally well prepared in resisting China and are getting better prepared at sea as well as by land to meet the 147th invasion attempt. 2. Indonesia is quite different again than Vietnam A much more recent state politically than Vietnam (except in core areas like Java), the Indonesians have a large archipelago of hundreds of islands to defend, ranging from tiny islands a few hectares in size to the giant islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Clearly, they are against the PLAPN incursions to it's north. Indonesia, by it's size and diversity (as a country, if it survives, and it's improving this over the last decade or so) will become a major power in the Indo-Pacific into the future, by it's large population and young demographic. Not to be trifled with, now or definitely into the future with 273 million people to contend with, and China (or the CCP) is going out of it's way to make an enemy with Indonesia.
