  1. There are many Northern Iraqies that identify as being Assyrian. A lot of those people (Assyrians) are now scattered as diaspora in other countries. What I find remarkable is that the modern Assyrians identify as the same people who built Nimrud and Nineveh, even though the Assyrian Empire finally collapsed in the 6th century BC.
