EVs are a dead-end technology (hybrids are another matter; they are here to stay). Germans are turning away in droves from EVs, which is saying something about the consumer lack of confidence in them. Germans, Americans and Australians are sensibly saying "nein", "nope" or "nah" to EVs. Which is just as well really because charging points are a massive inconvenience for everyone (including EV owners) in cluttering up streets and carparks. Much worse, EVs are not as safe as combustion engine cars, in that they catastropically catch fire more often during a battery thermal runaway event. Which most often happens after crashes or during charging. And they are not green, which is their false selling point. I'm not against new energy drive-trains in automobiles, but lithium batteries are unlikely to drive it. Why politicians want to cover up the green fiction of EVs is beyond me, but i suppose it's kind of a sick face-saving enterprise after they've hitched their ideological wagon to the EV. If Germans learn a political lesson about anything, it should be the errors of being lead around by an ideological government started by an Austrian from Linz.
