The era of billionaire "hope spin show on wheels", primarily featuring Elon Musk, is now crashing and burning. From Seagate Titan to the Hyperloop. Richard Branson rode this wave almost as much as Musk, but not quite to the degree of pie-in-the-sky schemes and spiralling costs such as Musk's Hyperloop and SpaceX. Billions of investment dollars, ,meanwhile has been fruitlessly wasted on such hairbrained schemes as flying to or landing on the moon or even worse, going to Mars (via Musk). Branson at least aimed a bit more realistically (than Musk) at sub-orbital space tourism, although the Titan disaster comes to mind. I'm not a doubter about the Apollo missions, it was certainly done, but at huge cost and even if repeated now via the very large government budgets, would be a similar enormous expense for comparatively little scientific value. To put a handful of people on the moon, again.
