Even though Hanna Reitsch was an experienced test pilot for a lot of Luftwaffe aircraft, and a celebrity, she was not allowed to become a fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe (although she may have requested this). This was the same for women pilots in the Commonweath and USA were not allowed to become combat pilots, although i'm unsure for the women pilots in the Soviet Union, if they were allowed to become combat fighter or bomber pilots. It was a different era.
