War War 2 was not a war between the goodies (Allies) and the baddies (Axis powers). This is a naive view of an eight year old. The strategic and geopolitical aims of all the belligerent countries are too complex to assess it this way. Also the Allies (including the Soviet Union) were not "good guys". As Neil Ferguson pointed out, World War 2 was a battle between evil (totalitarian Axis powers) and less evil (Western Allies). Also viewing this past conflict through a racist lens by Nazi leaders was not only morally wrong but also severely misguided.

Not at all. Unconditional surrender and the invasion of Germany in 1945 guaranteed the end of the Nazi Party and all it's works (well, not the immediate end of the effect of concentration camps, but freed the survivors and brought some criminal protagonists of these camps to justice). Had peace or an armistice been signed with Nazi Germany before it's defeat meant the survival of the party, totalitarianism in Germany and perhaps another third ruinous war.
