  1. Mein Kampf, was essentially Hitler's ideology that he applied, from the point where he completed that book in the 1920s until when he shot himself in April 1945. The ideology was mediaeval and deeply immoral obviously. However deeply convinced Hitler was of his own ideological position, he probably was not mad and could make decisions that had some bearing on reality until 1943. After this (highly important) year of WW2, Hitler increasingly lost touch with reality. This was partly due to ever mounting success of his numerous enemies where increasingly German battles were becoming less and less effective at turning the tide against them and also due to flattery, soothing and outright lying of his underlings. Another factor was his near assassination in July 1944, where he was blown up by a bomb placed under a nearby table in a conference room by a cabal of officers determined to get rid of him. He vengefully had the ringleader officers hung by piano wire (much in the same manner of the mafia). We can assume that from that point onwards that Hitler was much more mistrustful of his underlings & the army was going to lie even more about the strategic situation.
