  1. The CCP is politically unreformable (even by keeping the one party state) since Deng Xiaoping. And he only allowed limited economic reform because Mao had systematically ruined the economy of China through the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution and by the 1970s, the economy of China was very backwards. It was then 1% or less of the global GDP. Most countries in SE Asia and East Asia were wealthier (for the average person) than China was at that time (including North Korea). So much for socialism with Chinese characteristics.
