EVs are inherently more combustible because all of the stored chemical energy resides in a battery. This is not the case of ICE vehicles, where the substantial amount of energy is in oxygen in the air. Also, as EVs burn, they are much harder to put out than the rarer ICE vehicle fires. This adds as danger to neighboring vehicles and buildings such as high rise carparks. I also think that companies like BYD put more effort into the QAQC engineering checks before exporting these vehicles from China, as they get more for the vehicles in foreign exported cars and is also face losing for the Chinese to have as many fires in their foreign sold EVs than in China. Particularly, as the CCP has great difficulty in supressing the news about this outside China. Would i ever buy a Chinese EV at half the price? Nope, they are engineering-wise less safe than Telsa vehicles and their battery technology is generally inferior.
