  1. Interesting that Macron is promoting an European (or EU) superstate, in which it gains armed forces components will be a great power as well. However, these steps are premature. The EU is (at best) a confederation of ancient states, each speaking different languages with different cultural outlooks, with a shared history (until recently) of hundreds of years of conflict with each of their neighbours usually. In the sweeping statements of Macron, there is no manifesto of constitutional power division or constitutional forms of defence set up by the creation of such an armed forces, no rotating command structure agreed upon by all member states, and no democratic safeguards to protect it from a dictatorial coup. It's a personal premature desire of Macron's; not an evolving EU into a superstate quite yet.
