Comments by "Winston Smith" (@kryts27) on "China releases population census with enormous implications for the country's future" video.
China will be unique. For example, post WW2 Japan grew rich in the 1950s-1980s, before it grew old (similar with Germany, although this country also increased immigration unlike Japan). Ex-Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, wisely said that "the (mainland) Chinese will grow old before they grow rich". There are 540 million poor rural Chinese (40% of the population), and the CCP has virtually done nothing in the past 30 years to alleviate their poverty (the city to country wealth gap in China instead has increased). And i'm not counting the urban poor in China in these figures (it must be tens or even hundreds of millions of those too). It seems Mr Howard was right.

China's population census is fudged, like most data concoted by the CCP. They've overcounted at least 100 million people (by inflating local figures again in some provinces), so a more realistic census is 1.3 billion, not 1.4 billion for China's population.
