Thanks for that. Every time I find out something new in China, it gets more and more interesting, politically. Clearly the CCP's hatred of Falong Gong is much more than distaste of a bunch of people quietly doing Tai Chi in a park. However, the whip is currently in the hands of the CCP, and their historical record is abysmal to say the least. Clearly, China has not yet overcome the desire to exterminate political opposition (at least on the mainland). Europe went through this process (broadly) for centuries, ultimately the the detriment of everyone involved, until the absolutist power and feudal heritage was brought more to heel by revolution and parliamentary republics most places by 1919. This is highly unlikely to happen into the foreseeable future in China. However, noted that Taiwan has evolved it. Maybe that's why the mainland periodically threatens Taiwan about reunification (peaceful or not) more and more.
