  1. I have noticed that Chinese people travel in groups, not individually. Particularly if they are first-time tourists to Australia etc. This reminds me of how the Japanese first got around in large sightseeing groups in the 1980s and 90s in a similar way. Now, I have noticed young Japanese are travelling much more individually than (say) their parents. China (in some ways like Japan) is not a society of individuals in the same way as many Western countries. "Group think" and being groupies, hanging around with your friends and relatives in large numbers matter in China (less so in Japan now I think).
