I was interested in this historical project, let's call it the 1492 project, when this guy starts to promote a therapy practise which sponsors this channel. While I'm not going to lampoon therapy, the fact that it's advertised or promoted before the main feature is annoying and off-putting. There is another too politically simplistic mode to fall into; "Europe bad, world good". While expansionism of European mercantile kingdoms, notably Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Britain was not generally good for the world where these maritime empires conquered and sometimes introduced slavery, like the trans-Atlantic African slaves triangle, I would like to point out that some Asian and even native American expansionist societies had detrimental effects too; such as the Aztecs (daily human sacrifice) or the Mongol Empire bringing terror-blitzkrieg on horseback with the destruction of entire cities in central Asia and the Middle East. This doesn't excuse the level of turpitude of these aforementioned Christian European kingdoms, but these Aztecs and Mongols empires were about the same time as the early European maritime expansion or a couple of hundred years earlier. Take that into perspective.
