  1. Western Christian states, like the similar Armenian Genocide, lifted not a finger to attempt to save the hapless Assyrians during the late Ottoman empire. Although Chistians minorities in the Ottoman empire and during WW1, Western powers did not think it worthwhile or effective to provoke or support an uprising. To call it an overreaction is an understatement for the final solution ethnic genocide to banal paranoia and demagoguery that it was.
